All fiber pairs have now been successfully spliced!
Goodnight everyone 💪🏼
- Monitoring · UTC
Splicing work is under way and the first connections on the repaired cable are back online. Our own connection has just been restored, and websites and services should be reachable again.
We have changed the status to Monitoring while the provider completes the remaining repair work. If you still experience any issues, please let us know.
- Update · UTC
The replacement cable has arrived on site and is placed in position. The contractor expects to start splicing around 02:00. Based on the current planning, the repair may be completed around 05:00.
Please note this is a preliminary estimate and depends on how the splicing work progresses. Kindly reminder: All our servers are running normally and no data is at risk.
We will keep a close eye on things overnight. If the connection is restored, we will let you know right away; otherwise, you will hear from us again tomorrow morning by 08:00.
Thank you for your patience, and have a good night! 😴
- Update · UTC
Repairs are progressing. The preparations at the damaged location are complete and the replacement cable is expected on site around 01:00. If everything goes according to plan, the contractor will start splicing the new cable around 02:30.
There is still no confirmed time of recovery, as splicing a cable of this size takes several hours. We expect the connection to be restored between later this night up to tomorrow morning.
All our servers are running normally and no data is at risk. We will post an update as soon as the connection is restored, and otherwise by 08:00 at the latest.
- Update · UTC
While excavating the damaged section, the contractor found more damage to the cable than initially expected. Part of the cable now needs to be replaced, which requires additional materials to be brought to the site. As a result, the preparatory work will take longer.
There is still no estimated time of recovery yet. We realise this outage is taking a long time and we apologise for the impact on your business.
All our servers are running normally and no data is at risk. We will post an update as soon as the connection is restored, and otherwise by 01:00 CEST at the latest.
- Update · UTC
The outage is still ongoing. Repairs to the damaged cables in the Rotterdam area are in progress, but Fusix has not yet provided an estimated time of recovery. We are in contact with their network operations team and are monitoring the situation closely.
All our servers are running normally and no data is at risk. We will post another update as soon as we have more information, and at the latest by 03:00 CEST.
- Update · UTC
Fusix has identified the cause: extensive damage to fibre cables in the Rotterdam area, which carry the connection to our data centre. A contractor is on the way to start repairs.
There is no estimated time of recovery yet. Given the extent of the damage, Fusix does not expect the repair to be completed before this evening. We realise this has a significant impact and apologise for the disruption.
All our servers are running normally and no data is at risk. We will post an update as soon as repairs are under way or there is a more concrete timeline.
- Update · UTC
Fusix has confirmed that the outage is caused by a fault in their core network in Amsterdam, affecting multiple data centre locations in the Netherlands, including ours. This is not an issue with our own servers or network: all systems are running normally and no data is at risk.
Fusix engineers are currently investigating. We are in contact with them and will post an update as soon as we know more.
- Update · UTC
Fusix has identified the cause of the outage and is working on a fix. We are monitoring the situation closely and will report here once the connection is stable again.
- Identified · UTC
Since 15:47 CEST we are experiencing an outage at Fusix, the provider of our data centre’s internet connectivity. As a result, websites and services hosted by Unique Design may be slow or unreachable.
No data is at risk: all servers are running normally, only the external connection is disrupted. We are in direct contact with Fusix and working on a resolution. We will post an update here as soon as we know more.
